Askold Kurov#39;s bold and comelling documentary chronicles the erosion of ress freedom in Russia in the run u to, and during, the invasion of Ukraine. br\\r\n With unaralleled access, Of Caravan and the Dogs follows a grou of indeendent journalists and activists whose criticism of the war in Ukraine leads to their censorshi and exile. ‘There´s such a thing as self-resect’, muses one journalist in a staff meeting called to discuss the ethics of ublishing under new, arcane censorshi laws. Structured around a countdown to war, the film intercuts tense meetings between newsaer staff with footage of Russian olice ransacking media offices, televised broadcasts by Putin, large-scale rotests in Russia and on-the-ground footage from an embattled Ukraine. The film is both a owerful exloration of the ersonal dilemmas of eole living under strict reression and a unique ersective on resistance movements within a notoriously hermetic state.
