新元文明，二百五十三年，犯罪率升高是否与“零度共情者”相关，正成为这个社会越来越让人瞩目的话题。一起送货员被谋杀案牵扯出了一个犯罪团伙，而真凶被确定为最能引起社会讨论的“零度共情者”，案子虽然顺利结束了，但负责该起案件的特调组探员骆为昭却意识到一切并没有表面看起来这么简单。之后人口失踪案、富豪车祸案、走失大学生遇害案，一个个“零度共情者”被推到公众面前，骆为昭（付辛博 饰）意识到除了这些被推出来的凶手外，实习探员裴溯（张新成 饰）似乎也牵扯其中，几起案件背后还另有其人在穿针引线。最后这些犯罪势力被一网打尽，公众也意识到基因决定不了一个人的优劣、善恶，人可以战胜基因，人可以自由选择，只要心存希望之光，哪怕身处幽暗深渊，也终有一天会回到阳光之下。
